YouTube Shorts Series Turns Clips Into Seasons
YouTube Shorts series lets creators package Shorts into seasons and episodes amid microdrama growth, per TechCrunch and TV Tech.
YouTube is rolling out “Shorts series,” a tool that lets Partner Program creators organize Shorts into TV-style seasons and episodes with custom thumbnails and sequential playback, TechCrunch and TV Tech reported after the Made On YouTube event.
Instead of only scrolling clip to clip, viewers can follow a continuous short-form storyline across web, mobile, and connected TVs. YouTube said the series live on a creator’s channel and build on last year’s Creator Shows push for episodic packaging designed for bigger screens.
The company pointed to surging microdrama demand: in the first half of 2026, microdramas on YouTube surpassed 6.5 billion views, with watch time up more than 50% year over year and TV views of that content up more than 90%, according to the outlets citing YouTube’s blog. Creators already experimenting with multi-part Shorts storytelling include Kinigra Deon and GOKKO CLUB, the company said.
The launch also positions YouTube against dedicated microdrama apps and TikTok’s PineDrama effort by keeping episodic vertical viewing inside Shorts. Other Made On YouTube creator tools announced alongside the series feature include Live Showdowns, expanded video A/B testing, and Dynamic Thumbnails.
For more creator-economy coverage on Influencers, Shorts series is the clearest signal yet that YouTube wants bingeable short stories without sending audiences off-platform. Verified as of late-September reports: Shorts series rolling out to Partner Program creators; seasons/episodes with sequential playback; microdrama views cited above 6.5 billion in H1 2026.
