TikTok Launches Standalone Shop App in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines
TikTok has launched a standalone TikTok Shop app in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines on iOS and Android, TechCrunch and The Verge reported on Nov. 5, 2026, after social media consultant Matt Navarra first spotted the release. The app lists personalized recommendations, livestream and short-video shopping, in-app checkout, order tracking and customer support; TikTok did not respond to requests for comment, and no U.S. launch has been announced.
TikTok has launched a standalone TikTok Shop app in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines on iOS and Android, TechCrunch and The Verge reported on Nov. 5, 2026. Both outlets said social media consultant Matt Navarra first spotted the app. TechCrunch described the release as quiet and said TikTok did not respond to a request for comment.
Gulf News reported the same four-market launch on Nov. 8, citing TechCrunch. Fintech News Singapore wrote that exclusive deals listed for the new app give shoppers a reason to buy through it rather than the main TikTok app.
What the standalone app includes
TechCrunch reported that the app offers personalized product recommendations, shopping through livestreams and short-form videos, app-exclusive deals, in-app checkout, order tracking and customer support. The Verge quoted the Apple App Store listing as promising personalized picks inspired by a user's interests, "LIVE streams & short videos to see products in action," app-only deals, free shipping offers, exclusive first-order benefits, "secure payments for safe checkout," and "easy order tracking & 24/7 support from purchase to delivery."
TechCrunch, quoting the same description, wrote that by offering app-exclusive deals, the company is incentivizing users to shop in the standalone app rather than the main TikTok app. Mashable reported on Nov. 6 that the Google Play listing showed more than 50,000 downloads and that the Singapore Apple App Store ranked the app No. 71 in the shopping category. Mashable said the latest iOS update, version 45.5.5, arrived at 1 p.m. ET on Nov. 5.
Livestream shopping and creator recommendations
Mashable wrote that TikTok has spent years making it easier to buy products that appear in makeup tutorials, cooking videos and creator recommendations on TikTok Shop, and that the launch gives TikTok's shopping business its own place on a phone's home screen. Videos and livestreams remain part of the experience, Mashable said, citing the store listings. The Verge described those livestreams and short videos as a way "to see products in action."
NetInfluencer reported that Navarra described the iOS app as a consumer app separate from TikTok Shop Seller Center. Public reporting on the launch did not describe changes to creator commission rates, affiliate terms or how livestream hosts are paid when a sale is completed in the standalone app rather than in the main TikTok app.
Four markets, and where the app is not listed
TechCrunch, The Verge, Mashable, Tubefilter and NetInfluencer all named the same four markets: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines. The Verge reported that Navarra said the app was not listed in the U.K. or U.S. App Store, and Jay Peters wrote that he was not seeing it on the U.S. App Store. NetInfluencer reported that Navarra said the iOS version was released Oct. 27.
The Singapore App Store listing names TikTok Pte. Ltd. as the provider, Mashable reported, separate from TikTok USDS Joint Venture, which operates TikTok in the United States. Mashable wrote that TikTok's global business manages commercial activities, including e-commerce.
Southeast Asia and TikTok Shop's existing business
Tubefilter's Sam Gutelle wrote on Nov. 5 that Southeast Asia has long been the backbone of TikTok's business and that by 2022 the region had delivered more than one trillion TikTok views. Gutelle cited one estimate that Southeast Asia's ecommerce market will generate $226 billion of gross merchandise value in 2026, and wrote that a standalone Shop app would position TikTok to compete more directly with retailers such as Shein and Temu.
Fintech News Singapore reported that TikTok Shop's gross merchandise value in Southeast Asia roughly doubled to US$45.6 billion in 2025, citing research firm Momentum Works in figures carried by Digital in Asia. The same report said TikTok Shop accounted for 39% of combined GMV across Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop in the first half of 2026, up from 27% a year earlier, while Shopee held 55%, according to market data from Cube. It also cited Digital in Asia estimates that TikTok Shop's GMV in Malaysia more than doubled in 2025, rising 132% to over US$5 billion, making Malaysia one of the platform's fastest-expanding markets in the region, alongside Vietnam and Indonesia.
Fintech News Singapore wrote that a dedicated app could help TikTok Shop reach shoppers who do not use TikTok itself and compete more directly with Shopee and Lazada. TechCrunch wrote that a standalone app gives TikTok Shop a chance to reach shoppers beyond the main platform and compete with established e-commerce apps such as Amazon and Temu. NetInfluencer, citing Momentum Works, reported that Americans bought $11.8 billion of products on TikTok Shop in the first half of 2026, double the first half of 2025, and that eMarketer projects $23.4 billion in U.S. Shop sales for the full year. Those figures describe TikTok Shop's existing U.S. business, not availability of the standalone app there.
What TikTok has not said
TechCrunch said it is unknown whether TikTok plans to release the app more widely or bring it to the United States. If it did, TechCrunch wrote, the company would be competing not only with Amazon and Temu but also with retailers such as Walmart and Target. Mashable likewise wrote that it is unclear whether the shopping app will launch in the U.S., and said TikTok had not responded to its request for comment. The Verge said TikTok did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
TechCrunch placed the Shop app among other TikTok expansions beyond short-form video, listing games, restaurant guides, sports hubs, hotel booking and microdramas, and saying the company is also exploring payments. Mashable pointed to Must Eat, a restaurant guide, and PineDrama, a short-drama service launched earlier this year in its own app, as other products built around recommendations from the feed.
As of Nov. 8, reporting described the app as available in those four markets on iOS and Android, with livestreams, short videos and personalized recommendations among its listed features. TikTok had not issued a public statement on the rollout or a United States launch, according to TechCrunch, The Verge and Mashable.
