Israeli military personnel conducting a nighttime raid in the Gaza Strip's Al Shifa hospital have reported discovering weapons and what they term as "terror infrastructure." The soldiers arrived at the hospital complex, and while there was no fighting within the medical facility, they found evidence in a different section.

According to an Israeli military official, "IDF soldiers have already found weapons and other terror infrastructure. In the last hour, we saw concrete evidence that Hamas terrorists used the Shifa hospital as a terror headquarters." The official did not specify the exact location within the hospital where the troops were searching, promising that evidence would be presented later.

The ongoing operation is described as "extremely precise and targeted," focusing on one specific area within the vast Shifa hospital complex. The raid's duration remains uncertain, with the official stating, "Our soldiers are making a slow and deliberate progress based on our intelligence."

During the mission, a gunfight outside Al Shifa resulted in the death of four individuals identified as terrorists. The soldiers interrogated individuals found in the area they were searching, with the official noting, "I have an understanding that one of them is Hamas."

Israel had earlier claimed that Hamas was using Al Shifa, the largest hospital in Gaza, as a cover for their operations, a claim denied by both Hamas and hospital staff. The United Nations and the Red Cross expressed concern after the Israeli forces conducted the raid.

UN humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths stated, "I'm appalled by reports of military raids in Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza," emphasizing that the protection of patients, medical staff, and civilians should take precedence. He added, "Hospitals are not battlegrounds.
