Shah Rukh Khan Locks King for Dec. 24 Amid Avengers and Dune Clash

Shah Rukh Khan confirmed during a September 15, 2026 #AskSRK session on X that King remains locked for a theatrical release on December 24, brushing off concerns about a crowded holiday window that also includes Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three, India Today and Bollywood Hungama reported.

Asked whether the Siddharth Anand–directed action adventure felt like “the filling in a sandwich,” Khan joked that fans should spare a thought for the bread and that King is “the tasty tikki” in the centre. He said the shoot was interrupted by injuries that forced repeated stop-starts, but that “nearly all” is now done and “all broken is fixed.”

India Today relayed that Khan promised a trailer before December 24 while asking fans to wait for material that “satisfies the heart,” defended Anand for taking time to put the best foot forward, and said he has been pushing RC VFX late into the night. Music, he added, is waiting on finishing touches from Arijit Singh. The cast list cited across coverage includes Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi and Anil Kapoor, with Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures producing.

Bollywood Hungama noted that the confirmation follows its own earlier reporting and that speculation about a date shift had grown because Hollywood’s December 18 slate pairs Marvel’s next event film with Denis Villeneuve’s third Dune. The outlet also flagged Nagarjuna’s King100 as another December 24 title sharing the calendar with Khan’s film.

With roughly 100 days to go, Khan’s message was less about competing with Hollywood tentpoles than about finishing the action, songs and VFX to his standard—and trusting Christmas Day crowds to show up for the “centre ki tasty tikki.”
