Ramayana Part 1 Locks Worldwide Nov. 5 Release on Navratri
Ramayana Part 1 will release worldwide Nov. 5, 2026, makers said on Navratri with a new Ranbir Kapoor–Yash ensemble poster.
On the first day of Navratri, the makers of Ramayana announced that Part 1 of the two-part epic will release worldwide on Nov. 5, 2026, unveiling a new ensemble poster featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Yash as Ravana, The Indian Express reported Oct. 11. Bollywood Hungama confirmed the same worldwide date, poster lineup and Dussehra advance-booking window the same day, marking one of Bollywood’s highest-visibility theatrical announcements of the fall.
The announcement caption, shared with the poster, framed the Navratri kickoff as “Yeh Ram ke Yug ka Aarambh hai,” promising cinemas worldwide across all premium formats from Nov. 5, with advance bookings opening on Dussehra, both outlets reported. The visual places Kapoor, Pallavi and Dubey in the foreground while Yash’s Ravana towers behind them, offering another look at the production’s costume and set scale after recent character-poster drops for the royal household.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the project is planned as a two-part adaptation, with Part 2 aimed at Diwali 2027. The cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Arun Govil as King Dasharatha, Lara Dutta as Queen Kaikeyi and Sheeba Chaddha as Manthara, The Indian Express noted, continuing a campaign that has mixed legacy Ramayan nostalgia (Govil previously played Rama on television) with contemporary star casting.
Bollywood Hungama added that the film will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam across India, including IMAX and other premium formats, with Sony Pictures distributing globally outside India and Dharma Productions handling the Hindi-speaking market. Coverage around the same Navratri window also indicated India’s theatrical date is now aligned to the Nov. 5 worldwide bow rather than lagging a few days behind overseas markets, tightening the day-and-date plan.
For Bollywood’s fall calendar, locking a global premium-format opening less than a month out turns Ramayana into a festival-season and pre-Diwali event at once, pairing religious-calendar marketing with a multilingual theatrical footprint. The Navratri poster drop keeps the campaign’s character reveals moving while giving exhibitors a firm booking date and giving overseas distributors a synchronized start.
Commercially, a synchronized worldwide date matters for a production of this scale: overseas openings no longer wait on an India-first stagger, and premium-format inventory can be planned against a single global weekend rather than split windows. The Dussehra booking start also gives exhibitors a clear promo beat between Navratri’s announcement and the November release, while multilingual dubbing and IMAX availability expand the addressable audience beyond the Hindi belt into South Indian and international markets at once.
Industry reaction around the Navratri window has also treated the date lock as a signal that post-production and distribution agreements are far enough along for a firm global calendar, not just a soft target. With Part 2 already flagged for Diwali 2027, the two-film plan now has concrete bookends that exhibitors, brand partners and overseas circuits can plan against for more than a year.
