Israeli Strikes Kill Palestinians Including Children as Gaza Ceasefire Remains Fragile

Israeli airstrikes killed multiple Palestinians, including children and at least one Hamas commander, across Gaza on September 15, 2026, even as a U.S.-backed ceasefire from October 2025 continues to leave room for deadly raids, Reuters and Middle East Eye reported.

In Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood, medics told Reuters that strikes on a vehicle killed at least two people, one of them a child, and wounded seven others in what witnesses described as a second blast near people rushing to help. The Israeli military said it had struck a militant in the area without further detail. A separate strike on a tent encampment in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis killed a man and an 8-year-old girl and wounded 14 people, medical staff said.

British charity Medical Aid for Palestinians said a patient was killed at a health centre it supports in Jabalia after being shot by an Israeli military quadcopter drone; there was no immediate Israeli comment, Reuters reported. Israel’s prime minister and defence minister also said forces killed a Hamas Rafah Brigade commander; Hamas sources identified the dead commander as Nael Abu Obeid. Funerals were held for two other men killed a day earlier whom Israel described as Hamas commanders.

Middle East Eye, citing Al Jazeera’s emergency-services sourcing, separately reported an Israeli drone attack in Gaza City that killed at least two people on the same day, and noted Wafa medical tallies of three bodies and 27 wounded received by hospitals over the prior 24 hours. The outlet placed the day’s deaths against a cumulative toll it cited since October 2023.

More than 1,300 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in Gaza since the October 2025 ceasefire took effect, according to the territory’s health officials cited by Reuters, while the Israeli military says four Israeli soldiers have been killed in the same period. Hamas says Israel is undermining Trump’s broader Gaza plan; Israel says Hamas is violating the deal. Tuesday’s strikes underline how fragile that pause remains for families still living under tents and clinic roofs.
