Braves Clinch Wild Card Series, Advance to NLDS vs Dodgers
Atlanta beat Philadelphia 6-2 in NL Wild Card Game 3; Chris Sale closed and the Braves advance to the NLDS vs. the Dodgers, per MLB.com and ESPN.
Atlanta had lost six straight winner-take-all postseason games dating to 1996 and had been eliminated by Philadelphia in the 2022 and 2023 NLDS. The Braves finished the Wild Card Series 2-1 and open the NLDS at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, with Sale still expected to factor into the rotation after the short relief outing.
Coverage frames Kerr’s opener role as the hinge of the pitching plan after a late-season climb from Triple-A following Tommy John surgery in 2024. Grant Holmes, Robert Suarez, Didier Fuentes, and Dylan Dodd bridged until Sale entered.
For readers following October baseball on Sports, verified as of Oct. 1–2 reports: Braves win the NL Wild Card Series 2-1; Sale records the final four outs; Atlanta faces the Dodgers in the NLDS beginning Saturday.
