Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha's Unexpected Encounter on a Flight: Debunking the Reunion Rumors
Surprising meeting of Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha on a flight, debunking reunion rumors. Explore their intriguing Bollywood journey.
Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha, two legendary names in Bollywood, have a history that has always been shrouded in mystery and intrigue. The tale of their alleged closeness took a nearly real turn when the diva candidly expressed her affection for the superstar on a chat show, without explicitly mentioning his name.
Despite the swirl of rumors about their connection, the two actors, both with established careers, seldom crossed paths. They maintained a dignified distance, even amid speculations, despite Amitabh Bachchan being married with two children. The rumors briefly resurfaced with the release of Yash Chopra’s film "Silsila," in which they portrayed characters in love with each other, but bound by other commitments.
Following "Silsila," there were reported incidents, some genuine, some merely gossip, but ultimately Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha went their separate ways, until they were unexpectedly seen together years later. In 2015, thirty-four years after "Silsila," rumors of the Muqaddar Ka Sikandar pair reuniting for "Welcome Back" began to circulate.
Amidst the gossip, the iconic actors were spotted sharing a flight. It might have gone unnoticed if not for a crew member who took a selfie with Amitabh Bachchan. Rekha, seated behind him, attempted to evade the impromptu snapshot, successfully diverting attention.
The image quickly went viral, causing a stir. However, a source close to the Bachchan family clarified the situation to Deccan Chronicle, stating, "Amitji was not aware of the other passengers on board. There were many Bollywood personalities traveling to Chennai for a celebration of 100 years of cinema. It is a sheer coincidence that they ended up on the same flight. If someone is trying to suggest a rendezvous here, it is ridiculous. Because if that were the case, they would ensure they weren’t on the same flight."
The discussed image was previously shared on the Reddit community, BollyBlindsNGossips.
Regarding their potential collaboration, Anees Bazmee expressed interest in casting them together for "Welcome Back," but for evident reasons, it never materialized.
On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan is set to appear in the remake of "The Intern," as well as an untitled film featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, "Project K," and the remake of "The Intern." Rekha was last seen promoting Star Plus' show "Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin."
