Yuvraj Singh Opens Up About His Relationship with MS Dhoni: We Aren't Close Friends

In a recent conversation on The Ranveer Show, former Indian cricket star Yuvraj Singh revealed some interesting details about his relationship with MS Dhoni. Despite their success on the cricket pitch, Yuvraj clarified that they weren't as close off the field as some might think.

During the chat, Yuvraj explained that their friendship primarily revolved around their shared experiences in the Indian cricket team. However, outside of cricket, their lifestyles and interests were quite different.

"Me and Mahi are not close friends. We were friends because of cricket, we played together. Mahi's lifestyle was very different from mine, so we were never close friends, we were only friends because of cricket," Yuvraj stated.

Yuvraj also talked about their roles as captain and vice-captain. He pointed out that while they both gave their best for the team, differences in decision-making were bound to occur, which is normal in any team.

He recounted seeking advice from Dhoni towards the end of his career. Dhoni's candid feedback about the selection committee's assessment, just before the 2019 World Cup, provided Yuvraj with valuable clarity.

Yuvraj stressed that camaraderie off the field is not a requirement for success on it. Players have diverse lifestyles and skill sets, and it's not necessary for everyone to be best friends outside of the game.

He shared stories of mutual support during critical moments in matches, showcasing their commitment to the team's success, which went beyond personal friendships.

"In the World Cup final (2011), it was decided if Gauti (Gautam Gambhir) gets out, I'll go, if Virat gets out, Dhoni goes. That thing is more important than friendship. We were hardcore professionals. I wish him well, I know he wishes me well," Yuvraj revealed.

Since both Yuvraj and Dhoni have retired from international cricket, they now meet as friends, cherishing their shared experiences. Their camaraderie extends beyond the cricket field, evident in their collaborative efforts in advertisements.

In this candid revelation, Yuvraj Singh offers a unique perspective on his professional relationship with MS Dhoni, highlighting the mutual respect and dedication that defined their time on the cricket field.
