South Korean singer Song Ha-ye is marrying YouTuber Jo Maeryeok next month. Song’s agency, Niche Music, said on Thursday, Oct. 8, that the couple will hold their wedding on the afternoon of Nov. 8 at a venue in Seoul’s Gangnam district, according to Star News and News1 (via Sportal Korea). The venue itself has not been disclosed.

Jo, whose real name is Jo Jang-woo, is a creator with about one million subscribers on YouTube. Maeil Business Newspaper’s Star Today described his channel as a mix of travel, culture and music content. He is also the leader of an 18-member big-band project called Annoying Box, according to Star News and Star Today, and News1 reported that he serves as co-CEO of the distributor J Major. Some English translations render the band’s name differently, and his stage name is also romanized as Jo Mae-ryeok.

The two are the same age, both born in 1994, and they met earlier this year before their relationship turned romantic, Star News reported. Star Today listed both as 32. The reports published Thursday did not include further details about the ceremony, such as the guest list or who will host the ceremony.

The wedding date is new, but the engagement is not. Song first announced the marriage herself in August, posting a handwritten letter on social media. In the letter, as translated by Star News, she wrote that she was “now going to build the ‘fence’ of ‘family,’ which I had always dreamed of in my heart but was also afraid of at the same time.” She added: “I met someone who cherishes me as I am and stands by my side in any moment, and that is why I am getting married this year.”

Jo also shared his feelings about the marriage at the time. “Everything still feels unfamiliar, but we’ll love each other for a long, long time and live happily together,” he wrote, according to Star Today’s translation. “I think we’d be as happy as could be if you warmly blessed our journey ahead, too.”

Song is best known as a ballad singer. She first drew attention as a contestant on audition programs including Superstar K and K-pop Star Season 2, and News1 also listed an appearance on Made in You. She officially debuted in 2014 with the single “It’s My First Time.” Her later releases include “Your News” and “New Love,” according to Star Today, while News1 also cited “Say Goodbye” among her signature songs.

Star Today said the first report of the wedding date came from the Korean entertainment outlet Newsen, while Star News and News1 each attributed the confirmation directly to Niche Music. The November ceremony will come roughly three months after Song made the engagement public. For more creator news, visit our Influencers page.
