Sameer Wankhede Faces Money Laundering Charges in Aryan Khan Case

Former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede is now tangled in a money laundering mess, accused of taking bribes in the Aryan Khan drugs case involving Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan's son. The ED (Enforcement Directorate) is on his tail after he was accused last year of demanding a whopping 25 crores from SRK.

Under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, Wankhede and some other NCB officers are under investigation. Last year, the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) filed a case against Wankhede and his colleagues for allegedly scheming and extorting money in the Aryan Khan case.

Public opinion on Wankhede has taken a U-turn. Once hailed as a hero, netizens now mockingly call him "Nakli Singham" (fake Singham) after reports of his alleged demands surfaced. Wankhede, in response, has sought protection from the Bombay High Court, claiming the ED's actions are retaliation for his accusations against a senior NCB official.

In another blow, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) dismissed Wankhede's complaints against IPS officer Gyaneshwar Singh, stating they lacked substance. Singh, who investigated Wankhede's actions in the Aryan Khan case, found several irregularities.

Amid the uproar, Wankhede's WhatsApp messages allegedly linking Aryan Khan to drugs have surfaced, adding fuel to the fire.

For those not up to speed, Aryan Khan was arrested by Wankhede for alleged drug possession at a party. He spent about a month in custody before being released on bail during Diwali 2021.
