Brewers Clinch Fourth Straight NL Central Title Behind Misiorowski

The Milwaukee Brewers locked up a fourth straight National League Central title Tuesday night, beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 5–1 and then watching the second-place Chicago Cubs fall to the Atlanta Braves. CBS Sports, citing the Associated Press, reported that Jacob Misiorowski struck out seven over five shutout innings, lowering his ERA to a major-league-best 1.89 while pushing his season strikeout total to 243.

About 50 minutes after Milwaukee’s final out, the Cubs’ loss officially sealed the division. Brewers players followed that game on television and celebrated the clinch in the clubhouse. Joey Ortiz and Luis Lara each drove in two runs, and Milwaukee improved its standing as a near-annual October presence still chasing its first World Series appearance since 1982.

ESPN noted the same 5–1 scoreline and Misiorowski’s five-inning shutdown, framing the clinch as confirmation of a season in which Milwaukee has repeatedly sat near the top of the majors. The right-hander threw 82 pitches with 43 at 100 mph or more before exiting, strengthening his Cy Young case.

Pittsburgh’s Brandon Lowe hit his 30th homer, tying the Pirates’ single-season franchise record of 171 home runs set in 1999, on a night the club honored Roberto Clemente by wearing No. 21. The Pirates slipped back under .500 at 75–76.

Milwaukee has now reached the postseason in eight of the last nine years. The series with Pittsburgh continues Wednesday, with Logan Henderson lined up for the Brewers against Jared Jones.
