Overstimulated Is the Funniest New Podcast of the Fall, and It's Just Getting Started

Comedians and parents Manon Mathews and Vincent Marcus just dropped the first full episode of Overstimulated, and it is already climbing the Apple Podcasts parenting chart. In our opinion, this is the start of something big.

Overstimulated Is the Funniest New Podcast of the Fall, and It's Just Getting Started

Every so often a show arrives that feels right from the first minute. For me, that's Overstimulated, the new comedy podcast from comedians, and real-life parents, Manon Mathews and Vincent Marcus. It's funny, it's loose, it's happening right now, and I think we're watching the first chapter of a success story.

What Overstimulated Is

Overstimulated is a parenting podcast for people who'd rather laugh about family life than read another guilt-heavy how-to. The show bills itself as "Two Comedians. One Talk Show." Mathews and Marcus go straight at the messes, the noise and the madness of raising kids. The goal, in the show's own words, is to help listeners feel "slightly less guilty about hiding in the pantry for five minutes of silence."

If you've ever locked yourself in a bathroom just to finish a thought, that line is the whole pitch. And it works.

The Launch: A Teaser, Then the Real Thing

The show rolled out the way smart launches do. A one-minute trailer, "Welcome to Overstimulated," went up on Oct. 3, 2026. Then, on Wednesday, Oct. 14, the first full episode landed: "Finally Spilling the Tea on Our Relationship," about 35 minutes long. According to the show's Apple Podcasts listing, new episodes drop every Wednesday.

Episode One: Yogurt Returns and Celebrity Bedtimes

The premiere tells you exactly what kind of ride this is. According to the episode description, Mathews and Marcus:

  • tell the story of how they met;
  • explain why Manon once tried to return a week-old yogurt at their favorite store, Erewhon;
  • "put celebrities to bed," riffing on Matthew McConaughey, Kristen Stewart and Michael Caine;
  • take listener calls about picky toddlers, clingy boys, a doula who ate all the snacks, and the cereal aisle.

That mix of personal stories, silly bits and real parenting questions is the engine of the show. It's a talk show that happens to be about kids, not a lecture with jokes bolted on.

The Hotline Makes It Engaging

The smartest move here, in my view, is the Overstimulated Hotline. Listeners can call in with questions about parenting, life "or anything else," and the hosts answer them on air. It turns the audience into part of the show, and it gives every episode a built-in stream of fresh, relatable chaos. That's how a podcast builds a community instead of just an audience.

Early Signs of a Hit

It's early. The show has only one full episode out. But the signals are already good:

  • Chart action before the first full episode. Podcast tracker Reason.fm, which follows Apple Podcasts charts, recorded Overstimulated debuting at No. 71 in U.S. Parenting on Oct. 2. It peaked at No. 29 and has spent 11 days in the category's top 50. On Oct. 14 it sat at No. 52 in Parenting and No. 179 in Kids & Family.
  • Perfect early reviews. On Apple Podcasts the show holds a 5.0 rating from five ratings as of Oct. 14. One listener review, posted before the first full episode was even out, predicted it would be "a HIT."

To chart in a crowded category on a one-minute trailer alone tells you that people were waiting for these two.

Why I Think This Is Just the Beginning

Overstimulated has what lasting podcasts need: two hosts with obvious chemistry, a clear and relatable hook, a weekly schedule, and a way for fans to join the conversation. Parenting comedy is a huge lane, and Mathews and Marcus walk into it sounding like they've been doing this forever.

My verdict: it's funny, it's cool, it's engaging, and it's only getting started. Subscribe now, so you can say you were there for episode one.

Overstimulated is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and other podcast apps, with new episodes every Wednesday. This is an opinion piece.
