Mia Goth has filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf, days before what would have been the actors’ 10th wedding anniversary, according to The Associated Press and the Los Angeles Times. The petition, filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, says the couple has been separated since July 2025.

According to the petition, the pair married on Oct. 10, 2016, the Times reported. Goth, 32, and LaBeouf, 40, share a 4-year-old daughter born in March 2022. As with most U.S. divorces, irreconcilable differences were cited as the reason for the split, the AP reported, and USA Today, which also reviewed the filing, said it lists the date of separation as July 28, 2025.

Goth is seeking primary legal and physical custody of their daughter, with visitation rights for LaBeouf, and has asked the court to deny spousal support to either party, according to the AP. USA Today reported that she also asked for each side to cover its own attorney fees and costs. It was the first marriage for both actors. Representatives for Goth and LaBeouf did not immediately respond to requests for comment from either outlet.

The two met and became a couple while filming “Nymphomaniac: Vol. II” in 2012. They married in 2016, then split and said they were divorcing in 2018, but remained legally married, reunited in 2020 and welcomed their daughter in 2022, the AP reported. The Times said the new filing confirms reports from earlier this year that the actors were on the outs.

LaBeouf addressed the separation earlier this year in an appearance on “Channel 5 With Andrew Callaghan,” USA Today reported. He said he “can’t speak too much about” it, but added, “We were deeply unhappy. I made a lot of mistakes early on before we tried to have baby. I had violated trust in a big, big way.” He also said that while “it’s not good to be unhappy around kids,” it remained “important to be proximate.”

The filing came one day after LaBeouf, for the second time, settled a lawsuit with singer FKA twigs, whom he dated while he and Goth were apart. On Monday she moved to dismiss her second suit after LaBeouf agreed to void nondisclosure provisions in their earlier settlement, the AP and the Times reported; we covered that case in our report on the voided NDA. Separately, LaBeouf pleaded guilty in June to three counts of simple battery stemming from a Mardi Gras bar fight in New Orleans, the Times reported, and was sentenced to probation, according to the AP.

Goth, born Mia Gypsy Mello da Silva Goth in London, most recently played the servant Melantho in this summer’s “The Odyssey” and took on a dual role in last year’s “Frankenstein,” the AP noted. She is best known for Ti West’s horror trilogy “X,” “Pearl” and “MaXXXine.” LaBeouf began as a child star on the Disney Channel’s “Even Stevens” and in 2003’s “Holes,” later starring in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” and Michael Bay’s first three “Transformers” films, as well as “Honey Boy” and “The Peanut Butter Falcon.” For more film and celebrity news, visit our Hollywood page.
