Paris Fashion Week ended on the fast track. For Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2027 show on Tuesday, Oct. 6, creative director Nicolas Ghesquière turned the Louvre’s Cour Carrée into a retro-futurist racetrack, and Zendaya, Emma Stone and France’s first lady Brigitte Macron were among the guests watching from the front row, WWD and The Independent reported.

The set did a lot of the talking. WWD’s runway review describes a few dozen windowless, wedge-shaped vehicles with 1970s-style headlights and brake lights installed high above an asphalt catwalk that ran the length of the courtyard, with navigation antennas blinking red around the edges. The Independent says the house called the set a vision of a “future in suspension.”

The guest list was just as busy. WWD lists Zendaya, Stone, Felix from Stray Kids, Pharrell Williams, Jaden Smith and Catherine Deneuve, while The Independent adds Saoirse Ronan, “Sinners” star Wunmi Mosaku, Chloë Grace Moretz, Chloë Sevigny and “Rivals” actress Bella Maclean. Este Haim, there with her sisters Danielle and Alana, told WWD, “This is the greatest set, I wanna take it home with me in my luggage.” Moretz told the outlet, “I love cars, I know how to drift,” while actress Anna Lambe admitted, “I’m terrified of driving.”

Zendaya, a Louis Vuitton ambassador, wore her new pixie cut, according to The Independent, and WWD says she wore a white tank under a semi-transparent ruffled jacket and said on the unseasonably warm evening, “It’s so hot.” The two outlets described Stone’s look differently. The Independent reported a plunging teal blazer, while WWD described a royal blue skirt suit.

The clothes were lighter than the setting might suggest. “I wanted to express a sensation of simplicity — a quest for purity somehow,” Ghesquière said during a preview, as quoted by WWD. “The idea of lightness, of fluidity is very important with that collection.” WWD’s Miles Socha called it one of the designer’s “lightest, most approachable and prettiest” collections, built on familiar pieces such as cardigans, blousons and reefer coats in gauzy, papery fabrics. Ghesquière told WWD that most of the coats weigh less than a T-shirt, and joked, “I’m a specialist in armor for a long time.”

The Independent counted 48 looks, opening almost entirely in white with flashes of butter yellow and powder blue, knee-length hemlines and heavy black lace-up brogues. Later came silver fringed visors and sheer dresses scattered with angular, mirrored shards, leather biker jackets in caramel, lemon and dark brown, and the house monogram given a motoring treatment on bags and jackets. The paper singled out the flowing eveningwear as some of the strongest pieces, and said the house described the collection as “driven by possibility.”

Ghesquière, who has led Louis Vuitton womenswear since 2013, took his bow in jeans and a white T-shirt and paused to kiss Macron on the cheek, The Independent reported. The show closed a Paris season that also included Chanel’s bird-themed runway. For more fashion and beauty news, visit our Lifestyle page.

Verification: The set, guests, quotes and collection details come from WWD (Oct. 6), including its runway review, and The Independent (Oct. 6); the two outlets differed on Emma Stone’s outfit, as noted above.
