Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s crime thriller Haiwaan entered its first Monday in freefall, collecting an estimated ₹0.70 crore nett in India on Day 4—a drop of more than 60% from Sunday—and leaving the film at roughly ₹8.05 crore nett after four days, Business Today reported on September 15, 2026, citing film trade portal Sacnilk. That four-day haul leaves the movie short of the ₹10 crore India nett mark that many mid-budget Hindi titles clear inside an opening weekend.

Day-by-day Sacnilk numbers published by Business Today map a weak launch: ₹3 crore on Friday, ₹2.50 crore on Saturday, ₹1.85 crore on Sunday, and ₹0.70 crore on Monday. India gross was listed near ₹9.63 crore, with about ₹3 crore from overseas for a worldwide total near ₹12.63 crore. Overall theatrical occupancy sat around 12.88%, with night shows peaking near 16.62%—figures that underline thin walk-ups rather than a holdable base.

Directed by Priyadarshan, Haiwaan is a Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam and reunites Kumar and Khan for the first time since 2008’s Tashan. The plot follows a blind martial artist protecting a girl from a psychopathic killer, with supporting turns from Boman Irani, Rajpal Yadav, Sharib Hashmi, Asrani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Saiyami Kher, Business Today noted. Trade chatter quoted in the same report framed the run as one of Kumar’s weakest post-2021 theatrical results and floated early recovery math that already assumes heavy non-theatrical amortization—estimates that should be read as analyst opinion, not audited studio accounts.

The timing could hardly be tougher. Hindi screens remain crowded by longer-running hits, including Excel Entertainment’s Mirzapur: The Movie, which Sacnilk figures carried by The Times of India put at about ₹5.50 crore nett on its Day 11 (a 58.5% Monday drop from ₹13.25 crore) and roughly ₹190.20 crore India nett / ₹273.64 crore worldwide. India Today’s Day 10 report had already shown Mirzapur holding a sturdy second Sunday at ₹13.25 crore nett. Against that backdrop, Haiwaan’s sub-crore Monday reads less like a one-day blip and more like a film struggling for oxygen.

Bollywood’s September slate has also been defined by late-blooming and franchise titles elsewhere on the chart; iShook Daily’s earlier Hanuman Ansh coverage sits in that stronger lane and should not be confused with Haiwaan’s opening-week failure. For exhibitors and talent managers, the lesson is familiar: star wattage and a remake pedigree do not automatically convert when reviews are poor and competing titles still own the evening shows.

No studio has announced a rescue strategy beyond the usual hope for a holiday bounce. As of the September 15 Business Today report, the verified box-office story is blunt—four days, under ₹10 crore India nett, occupancy in the low teens, and a Monday collapse that puts week-two recovery on an uphill path.
