Kylie Jenner is getting her first major acting role. The beauty mogul and reality star is set to headline and executive produce “Bachelorette Weekend” (working title), a thriller drama that is finalizing a straight-to-series order at Hulu, Deadline reported on Monday, Oct. 5, in a report also carried by TheWrap.

The premise is pure whodunit. In the series, a bachelorette weekend turns deadly when the bride, played by Jenner, winds up murdered in the pool, and her closest girlfriends all become suspects. Deadline reports that Jenner’s role is described as the “North Star” of the series, which pieces together the events that led to the murder. In other words, the character may leave the story early, but the whole mystery revolves around her.

Her big sister is behind the project, too. Kim Kardashian is executive producing alongside Jenner. The show was created by author and screenwriter Lauren Oliver and comes from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, which is the co-studio with 20th Television. Jenner, Kardashian and Oliver executive produce with Aaron Kaplan, while Jaiden Kaplan is a co-executive producer, according to Deadline.

“Bachelorette Weekend” is based on an unpublished book by Flora Collins, the author of “Nanny Dearest” and “A Small Affair.” The book was developed by Oliver’s IP packaging company, StoryGiants, and the TV adaptation, written by Oliver, was developed internally at Kapital by Aaron and Jaiden Kaplan, both outlets reported.

Deadline also laid out how the deal came together. The spec script was first sent to Kardashian to produce. She felt it was a great starring vehicle for Jenner and passed it along, and both quickly came on board. Through Kardashian’s first-look deal at 20th Television, the project was pitched to sibling streamer Hulu, which bought it preemptively. After some back-and-forth, Hulu took it off the market with a straight-to-series order that is still being negotiated. A Hulu representative declined to comment to Deadline, and Hulu also declined to comment to TheWrap.

Jenner has been hinting at an acting move for a while. Both outlets point to her buzzy cameo in Charli xcx’s A24 movie “The Moment.” Deadline notes that she has become a fixture in movie circles over the past couple of years, attending major events with her partner, Timothée Chalamet. TVLine adds that she previously appeared as herself in a 2023 episode of “The Simpsons” and voiced Penelopuff in 2021’s “Trolls Holiday in Harmony.”

The new role follows the path Kardashian has taken from reality TV into scripted work. Kardashian stars in and executive produces the Hulu legal drama “All’s Fair,” which TheWrap says returns for Season 2 in November, and she appears in the upcoming Netflix movie “The Fifth Wheel.” Meanwhile, the whole family’s Hulu reality series, “The Kardashians,” returns for Season 8 on Oct. 8, per Deadline.

Kapital has other projects in the works at Hulu, including the drama “You Deserve to Know,” which reunites “The Vampire Diaries” stars Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley, and “What Remains,” starring Kerry Washington. Oliver’s earlier work includes the bestselling YA novels “Before I Fall,” the “Delirium” trilogy and “Panic,” which she later adapted into a streaming series for Amazon Prime. No premiere date or additional cast has been announced. For more celebrity headlines, visit our Daily News page.

Verification: The casting, plot, producers, deal details and Hulu’s decision not to comment come from Deadline (Oct. 5) and TheWrap (Oct. 5); the order is still being finalized, according to Deadline.
