Based on the iconic movie featuring Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried, "Mean Girls: The Musical" is set to make its London debut in June 2024, following a successful stint on Broadway.
Announcing the news on October 3, fondly dubbed Mean Girls Day, writer Tina Fey exclaimed, “We’re so excited to bring MEAN GIRLS to London, where everyone already knows what Regina means.”
The plot follows Cady Heron, a girl transitioning from homeschooling in Africa to a regular American high school. As she navigates high school life, she contends with Regina George, the formidable Queen Bee, and her Plastics clique.
Producers Lorne Michaels and Sonia Friedman expressed their pride and excitement in bringing this timeless comedy to London’s Savoy Theatre. They noted that "Mean Girls" has resonated with audiences worldwide for decades.
Featuring songs like ‘Apex Predator’, ‘World Burn’, and ‘I’d Rather Be Me’, the musical garnered 12 Tony Award nominations after its Broadway premiere.
