Gary Neville’s Overlap Goes Daily With Gerrard, Carragher, Cates
Gary Neville’s Overlap Network launches Overlap Daily on Oct. 9, a weekday football podcast with Gerrard, Carragher, Hart and Kelly Cates, per Broadcast and City AM.
Gary Neville’s Overlap Network is going daily. The football podcast and YouTube brand will launch Overlap Daily on Friday, Oct. 9, with new episodes every Monday through Friday at 4 p.m. on YouTube, Global Player, and podcast apps, and a rotating roster that includes Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Joe Hart, and Kelly Cates, Broadcast and City AM reported on Oct. 5.
Each weekday gets its own lineup, according to Broadcast. Gerrard and sports presenter Becky Ives host Mondays; Hart, Ashley Young, and Cates take Tuesdays; former Tottenham teammates Tim Sherwood and Jamie Redknapp host Wednesdays; and Duncan Ferguson and Mark Crossley handle Thursdays. Friday’s show will be led by Mark Goldbridge, with Carragher, Hart, and Peter Schmeichel joining as regular co-hosts. The launch episode on Oct. 9 will feature Goldbridge, Neville, and Carragher. Global’s announcement says the hosts share more than 5,000 career appearances, nine Premier League titles, and three Champions League titles between them.
The format promises “trusted insight, lively debate and instant reactions to the biggest football stories of the day,” plus regular guests, fan questions, and phone-ins, Broadcast reported. As part of the launch, Goldbridge’s That’s Football YouTube channel is rebranding to Overlap Daily, and his watchalongs will continue on the new channel. Sky Bet and Sky Vegas are title partners, with Huel signed as nutrition partner and ARNE as fashion partner.
Neville explained the timing in the announcement quoted by both outlets: “There was a moment in the last year where a manager was sacked and we didn’t have a programme for seven days – at that point we recognised that we needed to go for it.” City AM noted that Neville will not be a regular presence on the daily show after the first episode, and that he will continue hosting the flagship weekly Stick To Football alongside Roy Keane, Carragher, Jill Scott, and Ian Wright.
Goldbridge called the move a matter of “squad depth,” saying that joining forces with The Overlap “allows us to bring a wider range of perspectives and expertise to the table every day.” Simon Pitts, group CEO of Global and co-chair of The Overlap, said the daily show “takes that ambition to the next level.” City AM reported that the expansion follows Global’s majority buyout of The Overlap earlier this year and a subsequent deal to show episodes on Disney+. Goldbridge also co-hosts Stick To United, a Manchester United show with Wayne Rooney, within The Overlap’s portfolio.
The launch also sharpens a very public rivalry in British football audio. City AM framed the move as the latest round in Neville’s battle for audiences with Gary Lineker, whose podcast company Goalhanger has a two-year deal to show The Rest Is Football on Netflix after a successful run during the 2026 World Cup. A weekday cadence gives The Overlap a reaction slot for managerial sackings, transfer news, and weekend fallout that its weekly shows could not always cover in time.
