Drishyam 3 Week 1 Hits ₹245.50 Cr, Tops Franchise Domestic Haul
Ajay Devgn’s crime thriller “Drishyam 3: The Conclusion” has completed its first week in Indian theatres with Rs 245.50 crore nett domestically, surpassing the lifetime India nett haul of “Drishyam 2” within seven days, India Today and The Indian Express reported on Oct. 9.
On Day 7 (Thursday), the film collected Rs 13 crore nett across 15,758 shows in India, according to trade tracker Sacnilk as cited by both outlets. That takes its India nett total to Rs 245.50 crore. India Today put domestic gross at Rs 294.60 crore and worldwide gross at Rs 383.60 crore after overseas markets added about Rs 4 crore on Wednesday, for an overseas gross near Rs 89 crore. The Indian Express later cited makers’ week-one worldwide figures of Rs 384.57 crore gross.
“Drishyam 2” (2022) finished its India run at Rs 239.67 crore nett, both reports said, so the third film is already the highest earner in the franchise on the domestic nett chart. India Today said the next career benchmark in Devgn’s lead filmography is “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior” (2020), which holds Rs 279.59 crore nett in India. The Indian Express likewise described “Drishyam 3” as Devgn’s second-highest lead grosser so far behind “Tanhaji,” while noting “RRR” remains larger overall but featured him only in an extended guest role.
The Pathak-directed thriller opened Oct. 2, a Gandhi Jayanti holiday, and posted a career-best opening for Devgn. India Today listed Day 1 at Rs 66.75 crore nett, followed by Rs 53.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 61 crore on Sunday, then weekday totals of Rs 21 crore, Rs 19.50 crore, Rs 15.50 crore and Rs 13 crore. The Indian Express reported a similar weekday step-down and said Tuesday still benefited from discounted ticket pricing even as Monday had already cooled from the opening weekend.
Star Studio18 and Panorama Studios back the film, which reunites Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar with Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor and others; Saurabh Shukla reprises a cameo from the second instalment, India Today reported. With no major new Hindi releases this week, “Drishyam 3” faces a relatively open second weekend. The Indian Express noted that Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s “Udta Teer” shifted from Oct. 9 to Oct. 23 after the thriller’s strong start. Find more Hindi-film coverage on our Bollywood page.
Trade chatter on Friday also turned to whether the thriller can keep weekday double-digit crore totals into its second Friday. The Indian Express live blog cited bookers projecting roughly Rs 13 crore nett for Day 8 and noted strong advance sales growth versus the prior Friday’s advances, while India Today framed the immediate narrative around the Tanhaji chase after the franchise record was already secured. Neither outlet treated the Week 1 totals as final lifetime numbers; both stressed that Dussehra-week competition from mid-October could reshape the long tail.
Verification: Day 7 Sacnilk nett (Rs 13 crore / 15,758 shows), India nett Rs 245.50 crore, “Drishyam 2” Rs 239.67 crore lifetime, overseas/worldwide figures, day-wise table and cast/studio credits are from India Today (Oct. 9). Franchise ranking, Devgn career comparisons, weekday decline percentages, Udta Teer postponement and makers’ Rs 384.57 crore worldwide week-one figure are from The Indian Express (Kriti Sonali, Oct. 9).
