Disney Cuts a Couple Hundred Tech and HR Jobs Under D’Amaro

Talk of further downsizing intensified after a Sept. 18 memo from Chief Legal and Global Affairs Officer Horacio Gutierrez warning Legal & Global Affairs of “hard choices” on staffing and a “much smaller organization,” including automation of certain workflows — language Deadline said circulated widely inside the company. Unspecified LGA cuts are not connected to Tuesday’s shared-functions round, the outlet noted.

In an Aug. 5 shareholder letter, D’Amaro and CFO Hugh Johnston wrote that Disney remained “highly focused on reducing costs across the enterprise,” including labor and SG&A, and was “mid-stream in this work.” Disney had about 231,000 employees at the end of fiscal 2025, Deadline reported.
