Gauri Khan's Brother's Tough Stand: Threats and Struggles with Shah Rukh Khan Exposed
Gauri Khan's Family Struggles: When Her Brother Disapproved of Shah Rukh Khan's Relation with Gauri Khan
Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, the beloved Bollywood couple, faced hurdles in the beginning. Gauri's family, rooted in orthodox Hindu beliefs, had reservations about her relationship with Shah Rukh Khan, a Muslim. In a throwback interview, Gauri revealed her brother's initial disapproval and even threats towards SRK.
In a 1994 interview with Filmfare, Gauri shared that her family hesitated due to cultural differences and doubted SRK's seriousness about the relationship. Gauri's brother, Vikrant, a year and a half older, harbored strong disapproval. He, at times, expressed the intensity of his feelings by threatening SRK, even having 'murder on his mind' whenever he saw SRK looking at Gauri.
Gauri recalled, "He's (Vikrant) a very cool, laid-back guy, but whenever he saw Shah Rukh, he saw red. He was very possessive about me, and he had murder on his mind every time he caught Shah Rukh looking at me."
Despite the initial challenges and threats, Shah Rukh Khan maintained his composure, acknowledging Vikrant's concerns with a simple nod. Gauri expressed the duration it took for her brother to accept SRK, mentioning, "It took Vikrant four years to accept Shah Rukh Khan."
The love story of Shah Rukh and Gauri, which began when Gauri was in the ninth standard and Shah Rukh was in the twelfth, triumphed over these early obstacles. They got married on October 25, 1991, marking the beginning of their enduring journey.
