Every House Is Haunted Moves From Netflix to 20th Century

20th Century Studios has acquired the long-gestating horror package Every House Is Haunted from Netflix, with Dont Move filmmakers Adam Schindler and Brian Netto set to direct and revise the screenplay, Deadline and JoBlo reported after the Sept. 30 exclusive.

Netflix bought Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman’s script in 2021, adapting Ian Rogers short story “The House on Ashley Avenue,” both outlets say. The streamer never put the film into production there and has now sold the project to 20th. Schindler and Netto take over from Corin Hardy, who had previously been attached to direct, and will do their own pass on the existing draft.

The story follows an insurance investigator trying to debunk claims that a couple’s death was caused by a haunted house, only to have his skepticism challenged by a psychic and unexplained events he witnesses himself, Deadline and JoBlo agree. Sam Raimi and Zainab Azizi are producing for Raimi Productions alongside Roy Lee and Andrew Childs for Vertigo Entertainment; Ian Rogers and Starlight Media executive produce after helping option the source material.

Schindler and Netto previously directed the 2024 Netflix thriller Don’t Move, which Deadline notes hit No. 1 on Netflix’s global film chart in its first two weeks. JoBlo adds that the duo earlier worked with Raimi on 50 States of Fright. They are also in post on Nightwatching, a Ridley Scott–produced survival thriller starring Mila Kunis and Corey Hawkins with Amazon MGM handling international distribution. At 20th, SVP of Production J.R. Young is overseeing Every House Is Haunted under studio president Steve Asbell, Deadline reports.

No cast or release date has been announced. Moving a Netflix-developed genre title onto a theatrical studio slate keeps the project alive after years in development without promising a greenlight timeline beyond the acquisition itself.
