Kid Cudi announced on Instagram on Oct. 21 that he has written “Jean,” a film about Jean-Michel Basquiat that he will direct and star in, Billboard reported.
Billboard reported the film will begin shooting in 2027. None of the outlets named a studio, distributor or additional cast, and Vulture reported it is subtitled “a Scott Mescudi film,” using his birth name.
Cudi called the film “a love letter to Jean, the 80s and NY city,” Variety reported. Basquiat rose to prominence in the 1980s and died in 1988 at age 27, Billboard reported.
