Ryan Reynolds Reveals Challenges of Stunt Work as He Ages: Insights into Action Sequences for 'Deadpool & Wolverine'
Ahead of the much-anticipated release of "Deadpool & Wolverine," Ryan Reynolds, known for his portrayal of Deadpool, has shared insights into the struggles he faces with stunt work as he gets older. In a recent interview, Reynolds discussed the physical toll that performing stunts takes on his body.
Reynolds, set to reprise his role alongside Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, admitted to finding stunts more difficult as he ages. He emphasized that while action scenes might look cool on screen, the reality is tough, especially now that he's past 35.
"I try to do as much of the stunts as I can, but when things get too crazy, I'll let the pros take over," Reynolds said, stressing the importance of safety on set.
Reflecting on his own experiences, Reynolds recalled serious injuries he's sustained during stunts, like hurting his back while filming "Safe House" in 2012.
He also shared a story about his doctor recommending he use a stunt double after seeing him so often for injuries. "The doctor basically wrote 'Stuntman' on a prescription pad. That was a wake-up call. Now I've got a team of guys who handle the risky stuff," Reynolds revealed.
Despite the challenges, Reynolds remains dedicated to bringing authenticity to his roles, with a shoutout to the skilled stunt performers who help make it happen.
With the recent release of the "Deadpool & Wolverine" teaser, fans are excited for Reynolds' return to the big screen, hoping for a safe filming process.
