Soda Alert! Diet Coke, Fanta & Sprite recalled in AL, MS, FL due to "mystery stuff" inside. Check your 12-pack cans! No illnesses reported yet.
Coca-Cola pulled back some of its fizzy drinks in Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida because cans might have unexpected stuff inside. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said these cans could have "foreign material," which basically means something that shouldn't be there.
Only 12-packs of 12-ounce cans were affected, and the recall involved 1,557 cases of Sprite, 417 cases of Diet Coke, and 14 cases of Fanta Orange. The good news is no one has gotten sick from these drinks so far.
Coke says only a small number of stores are impacted, specifically in Valparaiso, Florida; Robertsdale and Mobile, Alabama; and Gulfport and Ocean Springs, Mississippi. They also reassured everyone that the recalled drinks are no longer on shelves and they've finished checking stores in those areas.
What to do: If you live in one of these areas and recently bought 12-packs of 12-ounce Diet Coke, Fanta Orange, or Sprite, check the date and batch code to see if they're part of the recall. You can find that information on the bottom of the can. If it's part of the recall, take it back to the store for a full refund.
Remember, this only affects a small number of drinks in specific locations. So keep chugging your bubbly beverages (except for the recalled ones, of course)!
