Mother apprehended in California after allegedly abducting 8 children from foster care in Arkansas. Children found safe, mother faces charges.
A mother took her eight children from their foster homes in Arkansas and drove them across the country. They were later found safe in California, authorities reported.
The Anderson Police Department in Anderson, California, received a call around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. The caller expressed concern about the well-being of a woman and six children due to the woman's unusual behavior.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the woman and children in a parking lot, near a white Dodge pickup truck with Arkansas license plates.
The woman was identified as Trista Fullerton, 36, from Rogers, Arkansas. It was revealed that she had a warrant for her arrest for abducting eight children.
Police arrested Fullerton and later found two other abducted children in a residence near Anderson known as Cottonwood, with assistance from the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.
A records check revealed that all eight children were listed as abducted, with protective custody warrants issued for their safety.
Fullerton, who is the biological mother of all eight children, had lost custody of them and took them from their foster homes.
Fullerton is currently in custody at the Shasta County Jail on her Arkansas arrest warrant. The children have been released to the Shasta County Children and Family Services, with plans for reunification with their legal guardians in Arkansas.
